Every year I host a holiday jewelry open house, and every year I get nervous. I’ve been to private shopping events where I felt pressured to buy items I didn’t want, and I would hate for anyone to feel that way in my home. Sometimes, though, I worry that this will happen. So, it made me truly happy to see friends old and new, neighbors, and customers gather at my recent open house to eat, talk, laugh, mingle, try on jewelry, laugh some more, buy things they love, or just have a glass of bubbly and a homemade cookie and leave with a smile. I’m so grateful for all the support and encouragement my little business received this year, and I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a joyous New Year!
My mom was 18 when she left Romania for Israel. Here she is at age 86 during a family Thanksgiving celebration last year in Bellevue, Washington, where she lives. (She's wearing vintage Ruth Barzel jewelry, of course.)
