People often ask where I get my inspiration. Since I’m mostly inspired by other women, I started the “Fuel My Imagination” series to share a little bit about the women who inspire me and show how each one wears my jewelry in her own way. This is the first in the series.
Who: My friend Sydra. She and her family lived all over the world, from Africa to the Balkans, before landing in the house next door to mine a few years back. We’re no longer neighbors, but we still go on long walks together every weekend and talk about everything. She’s the best listener and gives the best advice. Ever. And she’s the fastest walker. Ever.
My mom was 18 when she left Romania for Israel. Here she is at age 86 during a family Thanksgiving celebration last year in Bellevue, Washington, where she lives. (She's wearing vintage Ruth Barzel jewelry, of course.)
