People often ask me where I get my inspiration. Since I’m so often inspired by other women, I started the “Fuel My Imagination” series to share a little bit about women who inspire me and how each one wears my jewelry in her own way.
Who: My daughter Maia. In spite of her aversion to being photographed, she let me take pictures of her in her adorable new Philadelphia apartment (which she’s decorated impeccably, even though the tiny space is home not only to her but also to her boyfriend and their three cats) for this series. She did however stipulate that I was under no circumstances allowed to write about how she inspires me (she’s very demanding!). I was disappointed at first, and unsure of how I was going to make that work in a series focusing on women who inspire me. But then I realized that, as usual, her requirements were for the best. It would have been impossible to express in just a few sentences all the ways that this beautiful and mysterious creature has inspired me since she dramatically yet efficiently entered my world almost 23 years ago—making it clear that if I had plans for how something was supposed to unfold, I’d better expect to revise them. Since then it has become increasingly clear that although you’d think that as the parent I’d be the one providing direction, it’s she who always seems to know the way.
What She’s Wearing: My dainty necklace and bracelet with black cubic zirconia (also available in sterling silver, gold filled, and rose gold filled and with clear cubic zirconia), my simple chain choker necklace (coming soon), and my long lariat necklace with clear cubic zirconia (also available in gold filled and with black cubic zirconia).
