People often ask me where I get my inspiration. Since I’m so often inspired by other women, I started the “Fuel My Imagination” series to share a little bit about women who inspire me and how each one wears my jewelry in her own way.
Who: My friend Christen, manager of my favorite local shoe store The Shoe Hive, half of the soon-to-lauch mother-daughter duo lifestyle brand Threads by Nomad (which I’m extremely excited about, by the way) and one of the most stylish, generous, fun, and multi-talented women I know. I met Christen about 3 years ago, when she was getting her social media and marketing company up and running, and soon thereafter she started working with me on marketing my jewelry business. Although her initial role was to help me use social media to promote my work, by the time she decided to put her own business on the back burner and focus on other pursuits, she’d done everything from scouting locations for photo shoots and photographing my jewelry on models to designing promotional postcards and editing newsletter posts to teaching me how to use software. I felt a bit bereft when she told me she’d decided to close up shop and would no longer be working for me, but I soon realized that she had equipped me with the skills and tools I needed to move forward by myself. Since then, we’ve remained friends, and when we get together—as we did for lunch on my patio to take these photos recently—we never seem to run out of things to talk about. I count my friendship with Christen as one of biggest unexpected benefits of having become a jewelry designer and business owner!
What She’s Wearing: Christen mixes my jewelry with her own pieces (rings, earrings, and watch) that she wear every day. She’s wearing my double-strand choker necklace in clear cubic zirconia and black cubic zirconia, my mixed-metals chain bracelet, and my 4mm cubic zirconia stud earrings.
